plate The Salvation Army Camp Grounds Old Orchard Beach, Maine. "On the site of the old Jamieson Farm, the Old Orchard Beach Camp Grounds were first opened in 1873 by the Methodist Church. One summer Dr. Simpson was converted on the camp grounds and founded the Christian Missionary Alliance. As a result of these meetings the Women's Christian Temperance Union was founded. The Salvation Army was admitted to the Camp Ground Association in 1889, and in 1950 purchased it. Every summer many blessings have been received by visiting guests such as Generals E.
